Skincare Treatments

Here is what a great facial can provide over and above a relaxing experience:
  • Thoroughly cleanse skin.
  • Softening and removal of blackheads and whiteheads (called milia) via manual extraction.
  • Temporary improvement of severely dehydrated skin with rich, emollient nourishing masks that begin restoring skin's natural barrier function.
  • Plumping skin with a well-formulated moisturizer, which temporarily smooth out wrinkles.
  • Exfoliating skin with a gentle scrub, a light chemical peel, or a peel-off mask to achieve a smoother surface.
  • Help to fade brown discolorations, improve skin tone, and significantly reduce wrinkles with a professional-strength AHA or BHA treatment.
In addition to the above-mentioned benefits, make sure to have a well-formulated sunscreen applied after your facial. The sunscreen should contain only titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as active ingredients to eliminate any risk of irritation, especially given that most women's skin is more sensitive right after having a facial.
It's important to keep in mind that what you do daily to take care of your skin is more important than what you do occasionally, but the combination of a great facial and a great skin-care routine can have impressive results.

For most skin types a great facial should include gentle exfoliation with a properly formulated alpha hydroxy acid (AHA, active ingredient is glycolic or lactic acid) or beta hydroxy acid (BHA, active ingredient is salicylic acid) product. These are truly anti-aging, as they effectively reveal younger skin, even out skin tone, and build collagen. A facial also should include an antioxidant treatment, along with information on why antioxidants are so important for healthy skin. They not only repair damaged skin cells, but also help prevent further damage to the skin.

A great facial recommended for all skin types is the Organic Ormedic Facial. The Organic Ormedic Facial is a blend of papayas, pineapple, and mango, this non-chemical peel naturally re-balances, regenerates, and restores your skin using organic ingredients with medical effectiveness.

Skin Care Basics: The Basic 4-Step Skincare Regime

Step 1: Cleansing
You need to find a good cleanser that your skin responds well to, and stick with it. Avoid bar soaps as they tend to dry out the skin.

Vivier Hexam Gentle is great to use for this cold and frigid time of year. This luxurious pharmaceutical grade cleanser removes impurities, and makeup, leaving skin feeling clean, smooth and soft.

Some cleansing tips:
  • Be careful not to cleanse too often or you risk over-cleansing skin. You really only need to wash your face in the morning and at night to remove makeup and sunscreen, which can clog pores.
  • To cleanse skin, most women prefer the water method: Use warm water to loosen dirt and clogged pores. Use a dime-sized bit of cleanser, then rinse with cool or lukewarm water.
Make sure to remove eye makeup with a proper makeup remover. The area around the eye is delicate so don't pull or rub too hard.

In the morning, a splash of lukewarm water is all you need (it's great for removing excess oils from your nightly moisturizing). Never wash your face with hot or cold water (both can cause broken capillaries).

Step 2: Exfoliate
Exfoliation is the step most people skip in their daily skincare routine. If you start properly exfoliating your skin, you will notice an immediate difference.

The Vitamin C Scrub by Vivier is a pharmaceutical grade face and body scrub that gently exfoliates, cleans skin cells, refining skin texture and tone, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth and vibrant. Infuse skin with Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid to help diminish the appearance of skin imperfections.

Step 3: Moisturize
How much should you moisturizer? Your skin will tell you. When your skin is tight, it's crying out for moisture. Be careful not to over-moisturize -- this can clog pores.

A great daily moisture that is idea for all skin types is Vivier Daily Moisturizing Cream. This oil-free, pharmaceutical grade daily facial moisturizer is enriched with antioxidants and essential moisturizers to help increase skins smoothness while helping diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Step 4: Apply Sunscreen
The #1 cause of wrinkles is sun damage, so it's important to use a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF, even in winter and on cloudy days. Don't use moisturizers with sunscreen at night, the ingredients are not meant to be used 24/7 and can aggravate the skin.

A sunscreen lotion ideal for all skin types, including oily or acne-prone skin is Vivier Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30. The pharmaceutical grade water-based facial sunscreen provides true broad-spectrum UVA/UVB/UVC protection with SPF 30 in a light, sheer formulation that absorbs quickly into the skin. This elegant formulation is ideal for daily use and may be used alone, under makeup, in compromised skin post-procedure or alongside photosensitive medications.

Benefits of Facial Peels

Wayzata Cosmetic Surgery & SpaFacial peels use a chemical, which is applied to the skin in order to strip off the top layer, providing a fresh, new layer once it has been removed. This helps to get rid of any scarring and other skin problems. Different types of facial peels are on offer to suit varying types of patients and levels of severity. There are many advantages to using skin facial peels, so can be a viable option for anyone looking into improving the appearance of their face.
Facial peels can be used to eradicate or improve various skin issues. This may include scarring due to acne for example, as well as wrinkles, fine lines or sun damage. If your skin is aging rapidly, then it can also help to make your face appear younger by giving it a smoother and fresher appearance. It often improves the complexion and texture of the skin, giving it a smoother feel as well. This can improve the patients confidence a lot and helps them to lead a happier life.

The procedure does not require any cutting into the skin, meaning it is less likely to scar and there will be a minimal amount of pain. This makes them safer than most other cosmetic surgery treatments, as the risk of infection is also minimized. The good news is that the procedure usually only takes 10 to 15 minutes to administer. The results are usually seen right away and you can get back to your daily tasks as soon as possible in most cases. There may be a few side effects involved, such as redness or slight itching, but these are often mild and should clear up pretty quickly.

You need to be realistic about what your skin will look like after the facial peel. It may look slightly swollen and red for a day or so afterwards (depending of the facial), so it is ideal to not arrange anything important during that time. The results should be seen fairly soon following the procedure, but it takes time to heal properly. As the days and weeks go by, you’ll see a good improvement. Your skin should be smoother, fresher and softer with reduced or no scarring and signs of aging.

In Office Liposuction: Fad or For Good?

What if there was an option to get rid of fatty tissue that diet and exercise can’t touch, in about an hour, without a trip to the hospital? In office liposuction may sound too good to be true, but it continues to be a great option for women looking to treat small pockets of fat, and is especially useful to reduce and sculpt stubborn areas like the lower abdomen (also referred to as a mons pubis reduction).

So is in office liposuction just a passing fad, or can be it be a viable alternative for patients looking for body sculpting in less time and with lower costs than traditional liposuction? Let’s take a look.

Team “Fad”: Demand Has Decreased

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, demand for cosmetic surgery procedures has decreased year over year for the past few years, a trend which has been attributed to the economic recession. Despite the downturn, however, recent polls show a higher approval rating of cosmetic surgery by young adults, and in 2011, liposuction took the top spot for most procedures performed, with over 300,000 cases between 2010 and 2011, representing a 13% uptick. Other things that might predict a further upswing: in office liposuction techniques, such as laser-assisted ProLipo, allow for cheaper, quicker options with less downtime. The laser helps to melt fat and tighten skin as it goes, for a better overall result.

Team “For Good”: Results Are Forever

One of the reasons liposuction is a worthy investment? Once fat cells are removed, the body does not replace them by creating new fat cells. While remaining fat cells can swell to a larger size if a healthy lifestyle is not maintained after the procedure, it is unlikely that you will see fat growth resume in the treated areas. The better technique your surgeon has, the better your results, so make sure your in office liposuction is performed by a trained cosmetic surgeon in an appropriate and accredited clinical setting.
